Barry Nilsson promotes 28 emerging leaders
Barry Nilsson has announced 28 internal staff promotions to strategically support the firm’s ongoing growth and enhance service delivery ahead of the new financial year.
Leading national law firm Barry Nilsson has announced 28 internal staff promotions to strategically support the firm’s ongoing growth and enhance service delivery ahead of the new financial year.
Effective 1 July 2025, the promotions span the firm’s Insurance and Wills & Estates practice areas, as well as its Business Services division.
Barry Nilsson Chairperson and Principal Peter Murdoch said the appointments underscored the importance of developing and recognising the firm’s internal talent.
'Our people, along with their expertise and talent, are at the heart of the strategic vision for the firm – to have the best legal talent representing our clients and achieving the best outcomes,' Mr Murdoch said.
'It’s important for us to recognise and reward these 28 emerging leaders who will help drive growth, innovation and client service excellence for the firm nationally.'
'These promotions reflect the firm’s ongoing commitment to developing and investing in our people, and ensuring that we are fostering the next generation of leaders who will help to propel the firm forward.'
Mr Murdoch said the significant number of Insurance practice promotions would drive growth and deepen the firm’s expertise in the key business area amid increased demand for services.
'While these promotions span three business areas and all six of our offices, 25 of the 28 promotions have come from within our Insurance practice – a core practice area for the firm,' Mr Murdoch said.
'Demand for insurance law services is being driven by the complex and rapidly evolving risk landscape.'
'These promotions enable us to better support our clients in this environment and continue to grow the practice as we strive to cement our position as the national leader in Insurance law.'
The promotions follow the recent appointment of Kim Lamb as Family Law Principal earlier this month.
Ms Lamb, who commenced on Wednesday 11 June 2025, joins the firm from Hargreaves Family Lawyers with more than 13 years of Family Law experience.
Her appointment brings Barry Nilsson’s national headcount to more than 450 employees as of 1 July 2025. Recognised as an Employer of Choice for six consecutive years since 2019, the firm’s workforce has experienced significant growth in the last financial year.
