Jack is a Senior Associate in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Perth office.

Jack specialises in:

  • Professional Indemnity
  • Directors and Officers
  • Management Liability
  • Public Liability
  • Workers Compensation
  • Work Health and Safety Prosecutions (and other Statutory Prosecutions)

Jack acts for local and international insurers, brokers, corporations, and self-insureds, advising clients on liability, quantum, and settlement prospects.

“I enjoy the variety insurance litigation exposes me to. On the same day you might be acting for the director of publicly listed company, whilst later assisting a small business with a minor damages claim. Ultimately, all roads lead to Rome (in this case Rome being the best result for our clients) and BN allows me to apply my trade on a daily basis.”

Jack aims to resolve claims as efficient and cost effective as possible. However, when this is not possible, Jack is an adept litigator who has acted as Counsel (or as instructor) in trials, appeals, arbitrations and other hearings in all courts in Western Australia, the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory and at WorkCover Tribunals in WA.

“I understand the personal cost of litigation, and when possible, take pragmatic steps to resolve claims and disputes at an early stage. When litigation is necessary though, I will work tirelessly to ensure the best result for my clients”

Before joining BN, Jack gained experience across a broad range of litigious practice areas, including general commercial litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings, trustee/beneficiary disputes and property disputes, as well as representing defendant insureds in seafarer compensation claims.

Prior to his admission to practice, Jack had an established career in the Western Australian thoroughbred racing industry. His most recent role within the industry was as General Manager of Albany Racing Club. Jack continues to act for industry participants in the racing industry and on numerous occasions has appeared as Counsel in the Racing Penalties Appeals Tribunal.

“This past experience provided me an insight into the insured’s side of litigated and non-litigated claims and has left me with an empathetic understanding of the challenges that insurers and their clients face, and the remedies required to bring their disputes to a successful conclusion”.

Jack holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. He is also a member of the Law Society of Western Australia and the Australian Insurance Law Association.
