Erick is a Senior Associate in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Sydney office.

Erick specialises in:

  • Defendant compulsory third party (CTP)
  • motor vehicle accident claims

Erick acts for and provides advice to compulsory third party (CTP) insurers in relation to all types of CTP claims involving common law damages, complex medical disputes, liability issues, and litigated matters. Erick has managed claims in the Personal Injury Commission, District Court of NSW, and Supreme Court of NSW.

What interests me most about working in the area of CTP is the many different kinds of claims that you deal with. Each claim is different and involves different kinds of issues, so you’re always having to consider various approaches on how best to resolve the claim keeping in mind the client’s needs and expectations.

Prior to joining Barry Nilsson, Erick worked in plaintiff personal injury law firms and gained experience in a variety of personal injury matters with particular emphasis on CTP claims. In the early stages of his career, Erick also undertook a legal internship at the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (formerly the Motor Accidents Authority).

Erick takes a holistic approach to each matter with the aim of achieving the most cost-effective and best possible outcome for his clients. His previous experience as a plaintiff solicitor has provided Erick with a unique and beneficial perspective when it comes to defending and managing CTP claims through to resolution.

Erick holds a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. He is also a member of the NSW Young Lawyers and Law Society of NSW.
