Cara Walsh

Cara is a Senior Associate in our Insurance and Health team and is based in the Sydney office.

Cara has represented and advised global life sciences and healthcare clients in high profile product liability class actions in the Federal and State Courts. She has played a role in the settlement of a number of class actions, including overseeing and advising on settlement schemes. Cara has also acted for clients in individual litigated product liability disputes concerning a range of medical devices and consumer products.

Cara has had in-house experience in the life sciences industry which has involved advising on clinical trials, access to unapproved drugs under the Special Access Scheme (SAS), physician engagement in Australia including advice on sponsorship, speaker and consultant arrangements, advising on compliance with the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct, and advertising of pharmaceutical products. She understands the nuances of the life sciences and healthcare sector and the challenges facing her clients, including the public scrutiny placed on the sector. She has advised clients in relation to strategy and preparation of coronial inquests and investigations attracting intense media scrutiny.

Cara is an experienced litigator, having appeared on behalf of clients across various Australian jurisdictions including New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. She is currently undertaking her Masters of Health Law at University of Sydney.
