At what point does a doctor’s negligence or wrongdoing toward a patient turn into criminal liability?

Medical professionals and their insurers have seen an increase in civil claims for damages made by patients regarding care that falls below the expected standard, but when can those actions go further than civil liability and into criminal territory? What kinds of behaviour by a medical practitioner toward a patient can be viewed as criminal?

Join BN's Melissa Carius and Tyler Lim, in our next First Thursday Club session, where we will consider the actions of doctors and health professionals and when they may be found criminally liable. We will also explore real-life cases, discuss the legal boundaries, and understand the circumstances that could lead to criminal liability for medical professionals.
