Tyler specialises in medical negligence claims, disciplinary notifications, and investigations involving health practitioners and injury liability claims.

Tyler regularly acts for public and private hospitals, medical and allied health practitioners, and statutory and commercial insurers, providing commercially strategic advice tailored to the pressures facing the health sector. He also advises and assists clients responding to regulatory complaints and investigations, including those commenced by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, the Office of the Health Ombudsman, and the Professional Services Review.

In addition to his health law practice, Tyler has extensive experience defending personal injury claims on behalf of large organisations, including government departments and global mining and resources organisations.

During his time at BN, Tyler has been seconded into the claims team at a large insurer, managing liability and commercial claims, class actions, and recovery proceedings.

Tyler has built his career across health law and civil litigation, giving him a well-rounded perspective on defending negligence and liability claims. Prior to joining BN, he worked at an international law firm in the litigation and dispute resolution practice group acting on contract disputes and medical malpractice claims for a large medical defence organisation. He has also worked in the injury practice group of a large national plaintiff law firm, focusing on brain injury claims, giving him valuable insight into plaintiff strategy and how the other side approaches these matters.

'I enjoy working closely with my clients. No two matters are the same and I find it rewarding to help them, whether that be a tertiary hospital or individual practitioner, reach a resolution with confidence.'

Tyler takes a collaborative approach to his matters, partnering with clients to understand the pressures they face, including managing patient safety and reputational concerns. He focuses on identifying key issues early and providing clear, strategic advice that helps clients reach timely and commercially sensible outcomes.
