Thushani Welgampola

Thushani is a Senior Associate in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Brisbane office.

Thushani specialises in Personal Injury Law including the areas of:

• CTP;
• Public Liability; and
• Worker’s Compensation.

Thushani is a member of our CTP team, acting for insurance companies in third party insurance claims, advising the insurer on reaching pragmatic settlements and representing insurers at mediations and trials.

The area of Personal Injury Law allows me to work on a vast variety of claims together with legal experts on both sides to assist all parties to reach pragmatic settlements.

Thushani was first admitted as an Attorney-at-Law in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 1996. She practiced in the area of civil litigation for 5 years in Sri Lanka before migrating to Australia in 2001. She was then admitted as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2002 and practiced in the areas of CTP, Worker’s Compensation and Public Liability representing injured parties in both small and national law firms until 2017. Prior to BN, Thushani worked at a large CTP insurer where she acted as a Resolution Specialist for more than 5 years.

Thushani takes a pragmatic approach to matters by focusing on the evidence at hand and finding a resolution that is cost effective for all parties involved in a claim.

Thushani holds an Attorneys-at-Law (Sri Lanka), a Graduate Certificate in Applied Law and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Queensland).
