Shakira is a Senior Associate in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Brisbane office.

Shakira acts for and provides advice to corporations and local and international insurers, including London-based underwriters. She has advised and represented clients on a variety of non-litigated and litigated matters across Queensland and Tasmania.

Shakira prides herself on developing and maintaining strong professional working relationships with insurers and insureds, including effective and regular communication. She enjoys the challenge of managing competing expectations between insurers and insureds. Shakira takes a pragmatic approach to matters with a view of achieving the best results for her clients.

Prior to joining BN, Shakira gained experience in plaintiff personal injury litigation which has endowed her with a profound understanding of the plaintiff’s perspective, as well as a nuanced grasp of their strategies and approaches.

Her unique insight enhances her ability to effectively navigate and anticipate the intricacies of plaintiff-side litigation.
