Robert MacFarlane

Rob has practiced exclusively in family law since his admission to practice in 2022. He works with clients across a broad spectrum of matters, from seemingly intractable parenting disputes to property settlements involving complex corporate and trust structures.

Rob enjoys working with a diverse range of clients, from pro-bono matters to high net-worth individuals. His experience spans high-conflict parenting matters involving family violence and relocation, to intricate property and financial matters.

'I really enjoy having the opportunity to support clients through what is often one of the most stressful and uncertain periods of their lives. For many people, navigating the legal aspects of their separation can be an overwhelming process. My role is to synthesise the multitude of competing legal and practical considerations into clear advice and a strategic plan.'

Rob takes a measured and empathetic approach, recognising that every family’s circumstances are unique. Where possible, he assists clients to negotiate a settlement that is tailored to their individual needs, affording clients a greater degree of control over their outcome. However, he also recognises that in certain circumstances litigation is unavoidable and a robust approach may be necessary.
