Monika Matesa

Monika is a Special Counsel in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Sydney office.

Monika has extensive experience across various industries including construction, property, energy and mining. Her areas of focus see her act for and advise insurers both locally and internationally on policy coverage issues and strategic defence of complex claims. She has defended a diverse range of professionals including property and building managers, design consultants, lawyers and doctors.

Before joining BN, Monika gained experience at some of Australian’s leading commercial litigation firms, where she advised on professional indemnity claims; D&O liability claims; and general liability claims. She also practiced in the area of institutional torts, acting for the State of New South Wales, and managed a portfolio of liability and coverage files, including assisting on the coverage and monitoring of one of the highest-value litigation matters in Australia at the time.

Monika holds a Bachelor of Business and Commerce (Applied Finance) and Bachelor of Laws, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
