Kate Martin
Senior Associate
Kate is a Senior Associate in our Insurance and Health team and is based in the Sydney office. She has been a litigator for over 12 years and has practised in insurance for over eight years.
Kate specialises in:
- professional indemnity
- public liability (property damage and personal injury)
- institutional abuse
- policy coverage advice
- building and construction disputes
- general commercial and civil litigation
- dispute resolution
During Kate’s career, she has landmark experience acting in first party claims and indemnity disputes for insurers, managed defence of injury claims in sensitive circumstances (including abuse and catastrophic injury claims), navigated settlement of complex, multi-party, high value construction disputes, and represented both plaintiff and defendant clients in various class actions.
She has appeared on behalf of clients across various Australian jurisdictions including New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory Supreme Courts, and the Federal Court and High Court of Australia.
Kate is a member of the NSW Women in Insurance and the Australian Insurance Law Association. She also serves on the Litigation Law & Practice Committee, and the Processional Conduct Committee of the Law Society of NSW.
