Jacob Luca
Principal

Jacob specialises in personal injury litigation, public liability, and product liability. He has particular expertise advising in on and responding to Medical Panel referrals under the Wrongs Act 1958 and the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and is well versed in the American Medical Association Guides. Jacob also has significant experience in motor vehicle accident, workers compensation, and statutory recovery claims.
Jacob’s clients include general insurers, underwriters and government bodies. He has acted for local councils, host employers, facility managers, schools, hospitals, builders and property developers.
Since his admission in 2008, Jacob has developed a strong foundation in insurance litigation through roles in both in-house and private practice. He values the variety his role offers, with exposure to a broad range of clients and factual scenarios shaping his approach and enabling him to provide practical, considered advice.
‘I find personal injury litigation interesting because it allows for a crossover between medical and legal concepts. While there are certainly similarities in cases, they are ultimately determined on their individual facts, which are sometimes very unique.’
Jacob has extensive experience managing multi-party litigation in all Victorian courts and has advised on and responded to appeals and judicial reviews. He has also managed strategically significant statutory interpretation litigation in the Victorian Civil & Administrative Tribunal.
