Hannah Shiel

Hannah Shiel is a Special Counsel in our Insurance & Health team based in the Sydney office.

Hannah acts for a range of medical professionals, health professionals and facilities. She specialises in:

• Health law
• Professional indemnity.

She has assisted defending professional negligence claims against medical practitioners and allied health practitioners in the District and Supreme Court. Hannah also assists practitioners in coronial inquests.

Hannah has developed a strong background in assisting medical practitioners and other health professionals across the regulatory framework. She spent three years in-house at a medical indemnity insurer in the professional conduct team which involved assisting medical practitioners in their matters with AHPRA, the Medical Council of NSW and the Health Care Complaints Commission. Because of her passion for this work Hannah brings a sensible and calm approach that health professionals value when they are faced with these challenges.

Hannah holds a Bachelor of Laws, and is a member of the Law Society of NSW and the Medico-Legal Society of NSW.
