Emma is a Special Counsel in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Sydney office.

Emma is an experienced insurance litigator with an extensive background in providing commercially focused and practical advice to clients.

Emma has particular expertise in the education sector and acts in the defence of sensitive and high-profile claims, such as institutional claims, bullying and harassment, and nervous shock claims. Emma advises on reputational matters for schools and institutions and their staff, including on criminal and civil investigations. Emma’s experience allows her to navigate the intersection of policy and professional standards within the education sector.

Additionally, Emma has extensive experience defending health and medical liability claims, complex and catastrophic claims, sensitive and high-profile claims, multi-party claims and insurance claims across a diverse range of industries including sports entertainment and leisure, services and construction, government, as well as education.

Emma advises on insurance and commercial contracts, including disputes arising from contractual indemnity and policy issues.

With an understanding of their reputational and commercial drivers, Emma guides her clients through the sensitivities and challenges of litigation, providing robust advice to achieve sound and strategic outcomes.

Emma holds a Bachelor of Laws - LLB (Honours) and has been admitted to practice in NSW as well as in England and Wales. She is a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association, the NSW Claims Discussion Group and the Australia New Zealand Education Law Association.
