Emma Baker

Emma specialises in medical negligence claims, regulatory matters, compliance and advisory work in the health and aged care sectors. Her clients include private and public hospitals, medical and allied health professionals, medical practices, aged care providers and their insurers.
She has a particular interest in advising and supporting medical and health practitioners in responding to disciplinary matters involving Ahpra, the Office of the Health Ombudsman and the Medicare Professional Services Review. She has also previously acted for Ahpra and various National Health Practitioner Boards in disciplinary referrals to QCAT, affording her as strong understanding of both sides of the disciplinary landscape.
Whilst much of her career has been focused on health law, Emma’s background also includes commercial litigation, professional indemnity and public liability claims. In addition to private practice, she has also worked in-house for a State Government department advising on statutory interpretation, procedural fairness, information privacy, and commercial contracts.
