Demi is a Senior Associate in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Hobart office.

Demi joined Barry Nilsson as a law clerk in 2016 and was later promoted to solicitor following her admission in 2018.

Demi advises a range of insurers and insureds in the areas of:

  • CTP
  • Motor vehicle recovery claims
  • Health Law including medical negligence and regulatory complaints
  • Coronial inquests
  • Public and product liability
  • Employment law
  • Professional conduct investigations
'In addition to BN's culture, the quality and variety of legal work and clients is what enticed me to aspire to continue and progress my career within the firm. It is now a privilege to be a senior member of the firm and help foster the development of the next generation of young lawyers.'

As part of BN's Health Law team, Demi has worked with a range of clients including medical and allied health practitioners, support workers and disability workers.

Demi’s CTP experience ranges from minor low impact collisions to major accidents resulting in catastrophic injury.

Demi takes a passionate, driven and personable approach to matters. This approach allows her to establish instant rapport with her clients, it helps her better understand their goals and needs, and enables her to communicate with opposing solicitors effectively to achieve excellent commercial results.

'Establishing rapport quickly with insureds is especially important because being the subject of a claim, complaint or investigation can often be a stressful and anxious experience – and it is our job to make them feel like they are guided and supported through the process.’

Demi holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and a Graduate Certificate of Employment Relations. She is the current President of the Tasmanian branch of Young Insurance Professionals and has been in this role since 2019.
