Cindy Ting is a Special Counsel in our Insurance and Health team and is based in the Adelaide office.
Cindy specialises in:
- Health Law and Medical Malpractice
- Public Liability
- Injury Liability
- Professional Indemnity
- CTP and Workers Compensation
With over 25 years’ experience in insurance law, Cindy specialises in injury claims, in particular the assessment of injury and damages, arising from medical malpractice, public liability, professional indemnity, compulsory third party (CTP) and workers compensation claims.
Cindy acts for insurers and insureds, including government agencies, nurses, surgeons, radiologists and anaesthetists, on medical negligence and health claims as well as a wide range of insurers and insureds on general liability injury claims including government bodies, CTP insurers, builders, architects and electricians.
Cindy provides advice on claims involving complex medical procedures and adverse outcomes such as adverse surgical treatments and assessing catastrophic injuries. Cindy also handles fraudulent claims with an understanding of the balance between the likelihood of proving actual fraud during a trial against the commercial consequences of not being able to resolve the claim. Cindy thrives on delving into the big, small (and often overlooked by others) details of a claim while balancing the clients’ interests, concerns and expected outcomes.
Cindy is passionate about a personalised hands-on approach to each claim through all stages of her clients’ litigation from initial notification of a claim, the initial investigative phase of any potential claim, compliance with Pre-Action Claim processes, and the finalisation of a claim through negotiation or mediation to ensure the best outcome for her clients. Cindy has also been involved in Coronial Inquests and appeals to higher courts.
'In litigation, a very strategic decision must be made as to when to enter into negotiations or resolve a claim. Knowing precisely when to resolve a matter will often be the difference between achieving a resolution or not. I enjoy partnering with my clients on this crucial decision to achieve the best possible outcome.'
Cindy has been recognised as a Leading and Recommended CTP Lawyer in the 2019-2024 editions of Doyle's Guide.
Cindy has a Bachelor of Laws. She is a member of the Law Society of South Australia, the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA), and the Australian Professional Indemnity Group (APIG). Cindy is also a member of the Accident Compensation Committee of the Law Society of South Australia. In this role, she assisted in the preparation of submissions on possible changes to CTP and workers compensation legislation.
