Anna Clarke

Anna Clarke is a special counsel in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Brisbane office.

Anna’s areas of expertise are:

• Public liability, including occupiers’ and product liability
• Complex property damage claims
• Policy issues

Anna has acted in a number of complex multi-party disputes involving issues of contractual indemnity and dual insurance. She also acted in a matter involving questions of policy interpretation that went to the High Court.

'Since joining Barry Nilsson I have been lucky enough to be exposed to many aspects of insurance litigation. A particular interest for me now is dust related/silicosis claims, which are rapidly on the rise.'

Anna acts for both insurers and self insureds, including acting directly for a number of large corporations.

'There are many reasons why I enjoy my work. Particular highlights are the diversity of the matters I act in, the exposure to new and complex issues and the relationships that have been formed with colleagues and clients. I also enjoy the evolving nature of litigation and having the opportunity to think and act creatively to achieve good outcomes for my clients with whom I have worked to establish an ongoing relationship, so that they know they can rely on my advice.'

Anna has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts. She is a member of Women in Insurance and the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA).
