Allison Hendriks

Allison specialises in defendant insurance litigation, with a particular focus on public liability, personal injury, and intentional tort claims. She acts for insurers, self-insurers and government agencies in complex and sensitive claims, providing advice on liability, quantum, litigation strategy, and the resolution of claims.

Allison has acted for government and justice agencies in claims arising from law enforcement activities, as well as historical abuse, psychiatric injury, and other serious or catastrophic personal injury claims. Her broader experience also extends to civil litigation, where she has acted for government agencies, insurers, and private clients throughout her career.

Prior to joining BN, she worked at the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office, where she acted for NSW Government agencies in complex and often novel, torts matters. Earlier in her career, Allison practised in private practice, conducting personal injury, property damage, and professional indemnity matters. She also completed a secondment to a major insurer, where she managed a portfolio of property damage claims and gained valuable insight into the commercial considerations involved in claims management, including reserves, reporting, and settlement.

Allison takes a pragmatic and strategic approach to the management of claims, focusing on identifying the key issues early. Allison is experienced in negotiating the resolution of claims through mediations and settlement conferences and recognises the importance of managing sensitive matters with care. Her approach is to resolve claims early where appropriate, but she is also prepared to strongly defend her client’s interests and is adept at running matters through to hearing.
