Winner announced for the 2024 Next Gen Insurance Leader Award
Barry Nilsson and Young Insurance Professionals are thrilled to announce the winner of the 2024 Next Gen Insurance Leader Award. Congratulations to Stephen Christie from McLarens for taking out the title, along with a $5,000 cash prize.
Now in its sixth year, the Next Gen Insurance Leader Award recognises business and leadership potential, and encourages and supports the development of young insurance professionals throughout Australia and New Zealand.
The submission guidelines provided the opportunity to explore pressing issues within the insurance sector, including retaining industry talent amid the rise of flexible working, the global pivot towards renewable energy, globalisation and market expansion, data protection, and emerging trends such as artificial intelligence and concussions in sports. A second component invited participants to identify the biggest challenges for the insurance market over the next three years, outlining their proposed steps as an insurance leader to tackle these challenges. Amongst a strong group of finalist submissions, Stephen produced an innovative proposal addressing workforce instability in the insurance industry, leveraging gig economy principles to balance operational flexibility with employee wellbeing during weather-driven surges in demand.
Congratulations also goes to this year’s finalists, Isaac Proctor (Hesketh Henry) and Louise Zhan (Downer) for their outstanding submissions.
