Barry Nilsson promotes next generation leaders
Barry Nilsson (BN) has today announced a further 20 promotions across its national network of offices. The latest promotions follow the announcement of three new principal promotions earlier in the month, and further bolsters the firm’s strategy to lay the foundations for its next generation of leaders.
Effective from 1 July, BN has appointed eight associates, five senior associates and six special counsel across the firm’s Insurance and Health Law, Family Law, and Wills and Estates practice groups, as well as a P&C Officer.
BN CEO Graeme Walsh said the appointments reflect the firm’s commitment to fostering the next generation of the firm’s leaders across all core lines of business.
'As a firm, we are committed to nurturing internal talent and providing our people with opportunities to grow within their roles and as future leaders of the firm,' said Mr Walsh. 'Each of these individuals has continued to uphold BN’s core values, display a high level of skill and talent in their areas of expertise, and deliver exceptional service - both to their clients and the firm.'
Earlier this month, BN announced the promotion of three new principals across its national insurance law team, including Corrina Dowling, Dian Turner and Alison Hay, bringing the firm’s female representation at principal level above the national industry average1 to 34%. Notably, 78% of the firm’s July 2022 promotions are female, including 100% female representation at special counsel and principal level.
Named an Employer of Choice2 in 2019, 2020 and 2021, Mr Walsh said 'BN prides itself on being an inclusive Australian law firm, employing and retaining the best, brightest and most diverse talent.'
'From the clients we work with and the quality of work we do, the training, professional development and career progression we offer, and the initiatives and benefits available across D&I, responsible business, work-life balance, flexibility, health and wellbeing, reward and recognition, and more - we are committed to upholding our reputation as an employer of choice in the legal market.'
'We are fortunate to have such talented people at every level of our firm. We thank them for their contribution to building on our success, and we’re thrilled to be able to recognise their efforts and achievements in this latest round of promotions.'
