Barry Nilsson announces three principal promotions
Barry Nilsson has today announced three new principal promotions across its national Insurance & Health Law practice, further bolstering its strategy to lay the foundations for the firm’s next generation of leaders.
Effective from 1 July, the newly appointed principals have been named as Dian Turner (Melbourne), Corrina Dowling (Melbourne) and Alison Hay (Hobart).
Barry Nilsson CEO Graeme Walsh said the appointments reflect the firm’s commitment to nurturing existing talent and promoting within its stable, and fostering the next generation of the firm’s leaders.

The latest appointments bring the firm’s total number of principals to 35 across its practice areas nationally, and its female representation at principal level to 34 per cent; above the national industry average of 30 per cent.1

Dian Turner specialises in public and product liability, and property damage. She has extensive experience advising both insurer and self-insured clients on indemnity, quantum and liability issues related to claims across a number of industries, in particular labour hire, construction and infrastructure, sport leisure, entertainment and manufacturing.
Corrina Dowling is an expert in employment practices liability claims and has helped lead the firm’s national Employment & Safety team for the past four years. She has significant experience working both in-house and in private practice, and has assisted clients on a wide range of employment issues, including unfair dismissals, restraints of trade, bullying, unlawful discrimination, employment agreements and more.
Alison Hay manages a broad range of claims, including public liability matters involving complex injury and abuse, property damage, professional indemnity and workers’ compensation. She has acted for insurers, insureds, self-insureds, underwriters and brokers with a special focus on construction, financial institutions, health care and local government.
