Most hospitals, medical centres, doctors, allied health professionals and health care providers generally are insured for third party claims under what are known as claims made and notified insurance policies.

This type of cover has stood the test of time as the best option for insurance cover for health care providers. But things can get tricky. And may get tricky to the point where, on occasions, there may be no cover available for a third party claim, or the claim may not be covered by your current insurer but a former insurer under an old insurance policy.

Whether you are an MDO, insurer or claims administrator who provides claims made insurance cover, or a hospital, medical centre or health care professional who relies on it, our next First Thursday Club session is an important one for you to better understand the nature of the cover, and the critical steps to take in making (on the one hand) and accepting (on the other) a claim.
