Nikolas Willing
Special Counsel
Nikolas is a Special Counsel in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Hobart office.
A specialist in commercial and financial lines claims, Nikolas advises on:
- Statutory authority liability
- Professional indemnity claims
- Commercial crime
- Building & construction disputes
- Director & officer liability
- Property
- General commercial litigation
Prior to joining BN, Nikolas operated a sole practice in commercial litigation and family law. On the commercial side he worked largely within the mining, resources and construction industry. He also has a strong insurance background, with experience in commercial and statutory lines insurance at two national law firms. His litigation experience includes cases across multiple jurisdictions including New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, the ACT and Tasmania. He has also appeared in the Federal Court and Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
Nikolas is intent on delivering practical and pragmatic outcomes. He adopts a commercial approach when formulating creative solutions to his clients’ problems.
Nikolas previously served on the Civil Litigation Committee of the ACT Law Society and the Rural Issues Committee of the NSW Law Society.
Nikolas holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology), a Juris Doctor, and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. He is a former company director and has spent time offering pro bono services across a number of outlets, including Justice Connect, the ACT Legal Advice Bureau and the Hobart Community Legal Service.
